(I think it may of the guy in the above picture, seated second row, behind the 'B' off to the right,
there are two men with 3 stripes upper arm sitting beside each other,
the one on the left looks like it could be the artists model or maybe a self portrait ?)

Reconnaissance has been made of W 21 d and vicinity.
There is a (two words scored out) fairly good position at W 21 d 60.70 but approaches are difficult.
Roads in W 21 d and b are only fit for motor transport in dry weather.
Road running South from HENDECOURT past BRICK YARD and w 26 b 60 90 is good.
There is a possible position, but with not much flash cover at W 27 a 2. 9. about 100 yards east of main road.
