Album Five
To my sister on her wedding day, July 26th 1915
Cupid I know, tho. wond'rous kind, Oft dulls the clouds, thought silver lined,
And crowned with thorns instead, we find, Ourselves, because that god is blind.
But gods of love, other than he, Exist with eyes which mortals see,
Caressing each so tenderly, Blessing the whole world's family.
And such a love I seem to miss: And sadness tells my conscience this,
That sorrow must be mine, and bliss, Be her's, who captures cupids kiss.
No melodies so sad she'll hear; Sweet notes of love above appear,
Whose echo makes the parting tear, Melt to joy, for my sister dear.
