All The Trappings
The streets are alive to the sound of music ... Florence Louden, who stars as Maria in Bangor Operatic Society's production of "The Sound of Music," takes the "Von Trapp" family - which includes Susan Dalzell, Fiona Thompson, Diane Petherick, Laine Radcliff, Andrew Soence, Lesley Hutchinson and Christopher Spence, through a lively number at a Press Conference in the Russell Court Hotel, Belfast. The society is staging the production in Bangor this week and will compete in the Waterford International Festival of light opera after an absence of three years.

2) Cinema Damaged by Bomb Explosion - A bomb explosion damaged the foyer and auditorium of the regal Cinema, Donaghadee, late on Saturday night, and shattered windows in nearby houses. The bomb exploded half-an-hour after the last show had ended. The manager, Mr. Robert Carr, had just arrived at his home 100 yards from the cinema when the explosion occurred. Before leaving the premises he had carried out his usual inspection. The explosion also blew out two large windows at the front of the building. Mr. Carr said yesterday that when he heard the explosion he went outside and saw dense smoke coming from the cinema. Crowds were gathering. The bomb was apparently placed at the back of the auditorium and detectives from Belfast investigating the case, took away pieces of metal for analysis. An R.U.C. spokesman said they did not regard the explosion as "anything political" It seemed he said, to be the job of youngsters. It is understood that the cinema will be open as usual tonight.
